Expanding Core Curriculum through PACK.
Formerly known as Omnibus and offered to selected students in Grades 2 through 5, PACK provide a specialized curriculum which enhances/expands the core curriculum, helps students develop logic, creative thinking, and problem solving skills, promotes interaction of students with similar abilities and interests and encourages a student’s positive self-image.
PACK participants are chosen by homeroom (and prior grade) teachers based on their high potential in the sciences and/or language arts areas. Participation is voluntary (teachers ask potential students before they are enrolled) and classes take place during the school day (once a week for 4 - 6 weeks, one to two hours per class.) Optional field trips are also included
Sessions are offered in the Fall and Spring, with some students in both sessions. Classes are led by parent volunteers and cover various topics, curriculum and projects that are chosen and planned entirely by these volunteers. Class size is restricted to 8 students per volunteer.
